While Modest Mouse actually formed back in the early '90s, it was the band's 2004 platinum album, Good News for People Who Love Bad News, that launched them to the next level of rock stardom, earning them a Grammy Award nomination for Best Alternative Music Album in 2005 and another nomination in the Best Rock Song category for the single “Float On."

Now, over two decades later, the beloved alt-rockers are still doing what they do best...and much to the delight of their many devoted fans, they just announced a string of 2026 tour dates via Instagram.

Following Modest Mouse's previously announced Ice Cream Floats Cruise from Feb. 5 to 9, the band will launch a spring tour kicking off on May 12 in Spokane, Washington, playing several more dates in the west (scheduled around Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party in May) before heading east. After another series of shows in locations such as New Haven and Virginia Beach, they'll wrap things up with an appearance at Tennessee's Bonnaroo festival on June 14.

An artist presale is already underway for Ice Cream Party members, with tickets going on sale for the general public on Friday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. local time. Washington, D.C. area fans will also have the chance to see Modest Mouse open for My Chemical Romance on August 18 at Nationals Park.

Isaac Brock once opened up about being a 'three-time-Grammy nominee loser'

In a 2024 interview with Spin, Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock opened up about how he felt when "Float On" lost the Grammy to U2's "Vertigo."

“Everyone says they don’t care and at the moment, it feels like they don’t care, but it was like, ‘Yes, how nice it is to be a contender in a sport you didn’t know you were playing,’” he said. "It’s like a game you didn’t think you were trying to win. I didn’t even know it was a game. I thought it was music, but I guess there’s awards."

“As someone who’s been a three-time-Grammy nominee loser, I can tell you it would now feel really nice to not find out," Brock quipped, adding, "It’s like if there’s a sweepstakes and they didn’t ever enter you in it and they just sent you notices saying you didn’t win. The third time you got the notice, you’d be like, ‘F—k, they sent me another letter. I hope I didn’t lose again.’”

Since Modest Mouse is still going strong, there's always the chance they'll win that sweepstakes one of these days.
