As the Artemis II crew heads toward the moon in what is already a record-breaking mission, the four astronauts are giving a positive review of Ryan Gosling's *Project Hail Mary** *from space.

NASA commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, and mission specialists Christina Hammock Koch and Jeremy Hansen got a special screening of the sci-fi flick starring Gosling ahead of their 10-day journey around the moon on NASA’s Orion spacecraft. The* Barbie* actor also recorded a message ahead of their liftoff, sending "all our best wishes" to the Artemis II team.

"We were all really lucky. We got to watch *Hail Mary *when we were in quarantine," Hansen said when asked what message he and the crew might give to Gosling. "That was a real treat that they sent us a link to view that at home with our families, getting us ready to go on our own space adventure."**

"I would just say to Ryan, art imitates science and vice versa, it seems," Hansen continued. "He did a great job in that movie."

"It's wonderful to see people really leaning into those roles. I thought it was just such an inspirational example, and somebody who goes out there and just gets what was done to save humanity," Hansen added of Gosling's character Ryland Grace, who is a teacher-turned-astronaut who is on a mission to save Earth from a solar-eating microorganism.

"It’s a pretty extraordinary example that we can all follow. We all thought that movie was really uplifting and inspiring," Hansen said.

The astronauts took off from the Kennedy Space Center on April 1, spending 25 hours circling the Earth before leaving its orbit. On April 6, they entered the lunar sphere of influence, where the pull of the moon's gravity is stronger than Earth's. As they perform a close lunar flyby, the Artemis II crew will view areas of the moon never seen before by humans.

The mission is scheduled to return to Earth on Friday, April 10, off the coast of San Diego.
