Luke Thompson is carving his own* Bridgerton *path. **

The actor, who stars as artsy brother Benedict on the hit Netflix series, tells* * that he chose not to ask any of the series’ previous leads for their advice prior to stepping into the spotlight in the upcoming fourth season. **

"I didn't. It was offered," Thompson explains. "People said, 'If you ever need help, then…' And that's great! I think I just wanted to make my mistakes and sort of battle my way through it, just because I think you probably learn more that way."

Still, the 37-year-old Brit acknowledges that he "definitely would have" taken up his fellow castmates on their offers if he ever felt like he was woefully out of his depth. "They're all very forthcoming," he adds. **

But, Thompson points out that even the most well-intentioned advice might not have applied to his situation simply because each *Bridgerton* season is so different from the next. **

"It's just so personal," he confesses. "The thing about *Bridgerton* is that every season it's slightly different. It's sort of regenerates, and part of that regeneration is that it's a different couple of actors at the center of it. So, in a way, it's difficult to even maybe be able to give advice, because it's such a personal experience."

As its title implies, each season of *Bridgerton* follows one of the series’ titular siblings on their quest to find love, with the first following the complicated relationship between Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page). Eldest brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) struck up a fiery enemies-to-lovers romance with Kate (Simone Ashley) in season 2, while brother Colin (Luke Newton) fell for his longtime friend Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) in the third season. **

By introducing a brand new couple and relationship dynamic every season, Thompson notes that the series always feels fresh and unique. **

"It's not this formula that you have to just live up to, and the people who've done it before [are] like, ‘This is how you do it,’" he elaborates. "Every year, it’s a different thing, and it gets to breathe in a slightly different way."

Now, it’s Thompson’s turn in the driver’s seat. The upcoming fourth season, which drops its first installment on Jan. 29, is set to tell the *Cinderella*-inspired romance between the rakish Benedict and bold housemaid, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). **

The unlikely match meet at the Bridgertons’ masquerade ball, where Sophie is disguised for the evening as the mysterious Lady in Silver. However, when his dream girl suddenly flees the event just as the clock strikes midnight, Benedict must use his wits if he hopes to reunite with her again. **

Accompany Benedict on his adventure when the first part of *Bridgerton* season 4 begins streaming on Netflix on Jan. 29. A second and final installment will be released on Feb. 26.
