The Man Without Fear is back, and he's building an army. Following the explosive finale of Daredevil: Born Again's first season (Or Season 4 of Daredevil, depending on how much of a direct continuation of the original Netflix series you choose to see this new batch of episodes), Mayor Kingpin has consolidated his iron grip over New York City and formed a private army of armed thugs to carry out his campaign of fear and violence over the heroes of New York City. Now, Daredevil is building an army of his own to fight back and take the city back from the charismatic criminal politician.

The trailer for Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is all about showcasing brutal action sequences. We see Daredevil fighting some of Mayor Fisk's crooked cops, the AVTF, or "Anti-Vigilante Task Force." Even Jessica Jones gets in on the action, with Krysten Ritter returning to her iconic role for the first time since 2019. Now we just need to get Luke Cage and Iron Fist back, and it'll be a full-on Defenders reunion! That might be what it takes to bring vigilante justice to the fiendish Mayor Fisk.

We also get a look at returning actors Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll. Henson's Foggy Nelson was controversially killed off in Season 1, and Woll's Karen Page was basically written out of the season, save for a cameo. As excited as I am to see Foggy, I hope they don't undo his death. Retcons are lazy capitulations to rabid fans. I'd like to think Daredevil: Born Again has more integrity than that.

Daredevil: Born Again is clearly inspired by real-life politics that saw a convicted felon who won't release the Epstein Files ascend to the highest office in the free world. If you don't think of ICE on the streets of Minneapolis when the trailer shows AVTF officers on the streets of New York City, I don't think you're watching close enough. While Daredevil is obviously framed through the heightened prism of the MCU, it's good to see that they're not backing down from that plotline, especially after last season featured none other than The Punisher ruthlessly gunning down these AVTF thugs in a particularly cathartic fight sequence.

Personally, I can't to see how it all shakes out. Vincent D'Onofrio is an incredible villain as Wilson "The Kingpin" Fisk, and I want to see Daredevil and his allies finally take him down with righteous vigilante violence... Only for him to somehow come back next year and do it all again. Either way, I can't wait until March 24, 2026, when Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 debuts on Disney+.

Hey, remember when they could show all the blood and guts they wanted during the original show's run on Netflix but they couldn't drop any F-bombs? I'm glad they finally got over that rule and everyone can get as salty as they want with their language on Born Again.
