God of War on Prime Video has cast its lead, Kratos, with Sons of Anarchy actor Ryan Hurst. With him locked in, it was only a matter of time before the rest of the cast began to fall into place, and now we now who will be playing the Norse gods Odin and Thor.

According to Deadline, Severance actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson has been cast as Thor, the hammer-wielding God of Thunder, while the legendary Mandy Patinkin will play Odin, the Norse All-Father. Ólafsson looks like he stepped right out of the game, while Patinkin is a bit of a wildcard in the role of Odin.
In the video game, God of War: Ragnarok, Odin was played by The West Wing and The Good Doctor veteran, Richard Schiff. Mandy Patinkin might be a few years older than Schiff, but he's also more in line with the traditional, barrel-chested depiction of a patriarchal deity, so I'm looking forward to seeing how his version of Odin will differ from the version seen in the game.
I'm tremendously excited to see Mandy Patinkin play Odin, since I'm a huge fan of his work on stage and screen. Remember when he sang Sondheim with Madonna on the soundtrack for Dick Tracy? That was awesome!
