It's been nearly two decades since Kate Gosselin broke out with her TLC show, Jon & Kate Plus 8

Kate has since divorced Jon Gosselin and continued raising six out of eight of their children

She's become a registered nurse, moved on with a new boyfriend and shares updates on TikTok

Kate Gosselin has been in the spotlight for nearly two decades.

Kate and her then-husband, Jon Gosselin, rose to fame on their reality television show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, with their eight children starting in 2007.

The TLC series documented their family — which includes twins Mady and Cara and sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah.

The family became a national sensation until the show came to an end in 2009 when Kate filed for divorce from Jon. Although their relationship ended, Kate continued filming her own show, Kate Plus 8, from 2010 until 2017.

In the years since the show came to an end, Kate has had a complicated relationship with Jon and some of her children. While Kate received primary custody of her eight children, Hannah and Collin moved in with Jon and the other six kids have had little to no contact with their father.

As for her personal life, Kate joined TikTok in July 2025 to share updates on her life now with her two German shepherd dogs and her boyfriend, Steve Neild, her former bodyguard.

Here's everything to know about where Kate Gosselin is now.

Born Katie Irene Kreider in Philadelphia on March 28, 1975, Kate was the third of five children. Raised in Philadelphia suburbs, she became a registered nurse and worked in labor and delivery in Wyomissing, Pa.

In 1997, Kate met Jon, then an IT analyst, at a company picnic. They married on June 12, 1999, in a friend's backyard.

Kate underwent fertility treatments after her polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) made it difficult to conceive. Jon and Kate welcomed their first children, twins Mady and Cara, on Oct. 8, 2000. The couple later welcomed sextuplets, who were born on May 10, 2004.

The family became the subject of a TLC documentary in 2006, and its success led to their series Jon & Kate Plus 8, which chronicled the family's growth, trials and tribulations as a crew of 10. The show was a hit, even after she and Jon split in 2009.

After the divorce, the show was retitled Kate Plus 8 and ran until 2017. She later starred in Kate Plus Date, which aired for one season in 2019 and followed her journey finding love after her split from Jon.

Kate has also written multiple books, including Multiple Bles8ings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets (which she co-authored with Jon and Beth Carson), I Just Want You to Know, Kate Gosselin's Love Is in the Mix and Eight Little Faces.

Kate briefly dated millionaire Jeff Prescott in 2015. However, for several years following, she was single.

The mom-of-eight chronicled her dating journey in Kate Plus Date. During the show, Mady shared that she believed her mom had "trust issues" since her split.

"She is doing this [show] and she wants to be happy and that comes with some sacrifices," she said. "Like, if she has to suck it up and get started before she feels comfortable, she’s going to have to do it.”

However, Kate didn't find anyone on the show. She told PEOPLE in January 2023 that she was considering getting back into the dating pool once the sextuplets had left for college. (All six graduated from high school in 2023.)

"I will never say never because I mean maybe, I don't know. I don't know what it's going to feel like to be at home all the time by myself. Maybe I will end up being ... lonely," she said. "Let me just go hang out with a friend."

In November 2025, Kate publicly confirmed her long-rumored romance with her former bodyguard, Steve Neild. Kate posted a TikTok and Instagram video that showed her posing and smiling with Neild as she wrote that she's "obsessed" with him.

Kate had teased her romance with Neild the month prior and revealed that they'd been dating for over a year. Neild was previously Kate's bodyguard and worked with her in the height of their reality TV fame. At the time, she was accused of having an affair with Neild, but she vehemently denied the allegations and called them "disgusting."

Kate and Jon remain estranged following their 2009 divorce and custody battle. During a sitdown on The Dr. Oz Show in November 2019, Jon said that he and Kate had "no relationship" whatsoever.

"We don't talk, nothing. The only time I see my ex-wife is in court, because we've exhausted all opportunities to co-parent. It's just never going to happen, due to personality disorders and everything else." Jon added that he and Kate don't see eye-to-eye on parenting their kids.

Kate responded to his claims in a statement to PEOPLE at the time, noting, "I have consistently made it a rule never to respond to Jon’s delusional ramblings, and I will not break that rule now. However, at some point soon, I look forward to making sure the absolute truth about our family is known."

While Jon didn't go into specifics about their disagreements, they have historically fought over how to parent their son Collin.

In 2016, Kate revealed that she had enrolled Collin in a live-in program for children with special needs. Jon pulled Collin from the program and obtained full custody of him in December 2018. Collin accused Jon of physical abuse in September 2020, including allegedly punching and kicking him. Jon denied those accusations and was never charged with abuse.

"It escalated into something, you know, I had to restrain him and I've done that a couple times," Jon told Entertainment Tonightat the time. "I didn't think he would call the police but he wanted to get his way and the police did their investigation and there were no charges or citations filed."

In November 2022, Collin told Entertainment Tonightthat reality TV "tore [his] family apart" and that he no longer had a relationship with Kate. In the July 2023 Vice TV special Dark Side of the 2000s: Jon and Kate Plus 8 Family Circus, Collin accused Kate of abuse. She denied the allegations, telling PEOPLE at the time that Collin had received "multiple psychiatric diagnoses" and inpatient psychiatric treatment in response to "unpredictable and violent behavior."

In September 2023, Kate sued Jon for more than $132,000 in alleged child support payments. That November, a judge ruled in Jon's favor, according to legal documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

Kate later opened up about her tumultuous divorce from Jon in an August 2025 TikTok Live and admitted that the whole situation "could've been a lot calmer and a lot nicer if everybody was willing to play nice."

She continued, "A lot of things happened that I could not control that did not turn out well for my kids, but I did my best. We just got through it to the best of our ability."

What does Kate Gosselin do for a living now?

Since the end of Kate Plus 8 in 2017, Kate has appeared on reality TV multiple times.

In 2019, she starred in Kate Plus Date, and in January 2023, Kate appeared in the Fox reality competition series Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. After injuring her neck while falling out of a helicopter into open water, she left before the end of the first episode.

"I knew, being a nurse, that I had to go get checked out and make sure there was no lifelong injury there," she told PEOPLE at the time, adding that she was "angry" that she had to leave the show so early. "My neck still bothers me sometimes. It is muscle. I do tend to carry stress in my neck and shoulders. So I do think that that probably was a factor in it, then hitting it smack dab on the water."

She also continues to work as a pediatric home health care nurse, per an August 2025 TikTok. When a commenter asked “what happened with all the income” from the shows, Kate opened up about why she continues to work.

“Honestly? Providing for 8 kids, college funds which I am proud to say covered all of their college and more and LAWYERS," she wrote. "Sickening but I was drug [sic] into court constantly and that costs A TON. Sad bc my kids could have a lot more saved and I could have a retirement saved if it weren’t for lawyers :(. It’s okay. I’m helping other families and I feel needed and I enjoy helping."

She added in another comment, "My kids got a good college fund, a beautiful home and private school. The lawyers got the rest of it. I don’t have a retirement savings. Reality tv doesn’t pay as well as it should when you have to provide for 8 kids on your own.”

Kate lives in North Carolina. On May 12, 2024, she celebrated the sextuplets' 20th birthdays with a sweet Instagram post, writing, "No more teenagers in this house! Happy 20th birthday, my forever babies!"

She joined TikTok in July 2025, sharing behind-the-scenes moments and answering questions from fans. Replying to a comment about “how lucky” she is to have her kids’ “precious” moments documented in Jon & Kate Plus 8, Kate claimed that her kids now watch the family's series.

"Yes! My adult kids are now watching our show with their friends/bf and gfs!” she wrote. “Isn’t that cute?”

On Aug. 11, 2025, Kate shared throwback photos of her kids in 2010. In the caption, she called the photos "the good old days❤️."

In addition to continuing to raise her children, Kate has also been updating her fans on her adopted rescue dog, Koda, and her other dog, Meika. In a May 2026 TikTok post, Kate teared up while she informed her followers that she was struggling to integrate the two dogs together.

"I was just crying this morning," Kate said. "I'm tired. It's getting to be a lot, which makes me sound like a baby, but the truth is, I've just been on watch constantly hoping nothing, you know, happens and watching them all the time."

She continued, "Koda is a humongous personality. She is now very obsessed with her ball, equally as Meika, and she could run forever. So, we're seeing the humongous energy of a malamute now, and I'm really starting to doubt myself."
