- "I was so glad that he did it. We were really excited when he said yes because we didn’t know," Lopez tells * *of Olmos' role in the new film.

- Olmos again plays Lopez's father in the upcoming Netflix comedy also starring Brett Goldstein.

The love between *Selena* stars Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos don't cost a thing, but it was an emotional investment nonetheless at Tuesday's* Office Romance* premiere.

As Lopez and Olmos reunited at the launch event for their upcoming Netflix rom-com, the actress and global icon tells * *how she feels about teaming up with her costar, who played her father in 1997's *Selena* biopic and again has a paternal role opposite Lopez in *Office Romance*.

"I’ll tell you what happened. We were standing on the carpet just a few minutes ago," Lopez recalls to EW in the video below. "I was standing with him, and I remember taking the cast photo with *Selena* and I said, ‘Oh my God, do you remember when we did this years ago?’ and he goes ‘I remember it well!'"

Lopez, 56, and Olmos, 79, walked the red carpet with the film's ensemble cast, which also includes Brett Goldstein, Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, and more.

"I was like, ‘And here we are.’ He’s like, ‘Here we are,'" Lopez continues of the pair's reunion moment. "He’s like, ‘I’m so proud to be here with you.’ I said, ‘I love you so much, thank you.'"

Lopez also explains that she wasn't sure if Olmos, an Oscar nominee for his performance in *Stand and Deliver*, would accept a part in the romantic comedy, as he's only made a handful of live-action appearances in movies over the last decade.

"I was so glad that he did it," Lopez says while standing next to Goldstein. "We were really excited when he said yes because we didn’t know, so, it was great."

Before *Office Romance*, Lopez and Olmos' found success with *Selena*, a biographical drama based on the life — and eventual murder — of the iconic Tejano singer, who was killed in 1995 at age 23.

Lopez earned her first Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy category, while both Lopez and Olmos received American Latino Media Arts Award nods for their performances.

*Office Romance* reunites the stars on camera, with Lopez playing Jackie, the leader of an airline company who has a strict anti-inter-office relationship policy for her staff.

Goldstein, however, plays one of the business' new lawyers whose attraction to Jackie tests her rigid workplace standards.

*Office Romance* director Ol Parker tells EW on the carpet that Lopez and Goldstein had electric chemistry on and off camera: "I said almost nothing for three hours. They just made each other laugh. And I just sat there thinking, oh, this is going to work," he says of a lunch meeting the trio had before shooting started.
