A sweet Home Improvement cast reunion has signaled that it just might be tool time once again.
Three stars from the beloved sitcom ABC sitcom reunited in a new photo, marking a rare public return for former actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
“My other boys,” actress Patricia Richardson wrote in the photo’s caption via Instagram on Wednesday. In the pic, she posed with her on-camera sons, Thomas, 44, and Taran Noah Smith.
The cast worked together across the series’ run, with the show debuting in 1991 and airing its series finale in 1999.
Not present for the reunion photo, however, was series lead Tim Allen, who played the family patriarch.
While Richardson, 75, has remained active in the industry, Thomas largely stepped away from acting, with his last role in a major movie coming via voice role in 2005’s Thru the Moebius Strip. He briefly returned to TV to portray another one of Allen’s on-screen sons in a recurring role on the actor’s Last Man Standing sitcom from 2013-2015.
Allen and Richardson’s other on-screen son, Zachery Ty Bryan, was recently sentenced to 19 months in prison stemming from a 2024 arrest in La Quinta, Calif., on charges of felony DUI and a misdemeanor for alleged contempt of court.
Bryan’s attorney, John Kolego, told Entertainment Weekly’s sister publication, PEOPLE, at the time that “Mr. Bryan needs help” to recover from his issues.

“He had a very traumatic childhood and he was abused and exploited as a child and has had resulting difficulties, but sending him to prison is really not the appropriate fix for this situation,” Kolego said. “What he needs is help.”
Rumors swirled in recent years that a Home Improvement reunion was in the works, though Richardson herself denied any involvement.

“It was so weird, I would hear [Allen] was coming out publicly and saying this stuff about everyone was on board to do a Home Improvement reunion, but he never asked me and he never asked Jonathan [Taylor Thomas],” Richardson told the Back to the Best podcast in 2024.
“I called Jonathan one day and said, ‘Has he asked you about this? He went, ‘No.’ So why is he saying everyone is on board when he hasn’t talked to you or me?” Richardson said.

In a subsequent interview with Us Weekly, Allen said, “They keep talking about how it could move forward, but they get stuck [because] there are some personality problems right now with the boys,” he said, adding: “They’ve got their own issues. I always thought it would be cool if it was a story about them. That’s a little challenging right now, to put it mildly.”
