Nick Cannon calls Democrats 'the party of the KKK,' voices support for Trump: 'Motherf---er's cleaning house'

Nick Cannon is giving his unfiltered take on the state of American politics.
On the latest episode of his web talk show, Big Drive, Cannon was joined by model Amber Rose, a vocal Trump supporter and voting Republican who described herself as a "former liberal." Early in their conversation, Cannon agreed with her stance on the matter and went on to describe the Democratic Party as "the party of the KKK."
The exchange began when Rose explained the reason for her flip from Democrat to Republican, arguing, "Democrats don't care about Black people and they don't care about people of color. And the Republicans do."
Cannon replied, "I agree with you 100 percent. People don’t know that the Democrats are the party of the KKK. People don’t know that the Republicans are the party that freed the slaves."

There is technically some truth to Cannon's statement: some members of the Democratic Party of the 1800's were responsible for the rise of the Ku Klux Klan on the heels of the Civil War, and the Republican Party was founded in the early 1850's by anti-slavery activists. President Abraham Lincoln, who signed the Emancipation Proclamation, was a member of the Republican Party.
However, the political parties of 2026 bear almost no resemblance to their 1860s counterparts in large part due to major realignments during the Civil Rights era. At the time, Republicans were, generally, a party of Northerners and Democrats were, generally, the party of the South — today, the opposite is true.

Speaking to Rose about the warring parties, Cannon stated that while many of his views do align with the Trump-led party, he still prefers to distance himself from both the Republicans and Democrats.

"Both you and I have some conservative views. You’re just a little bit more outspoken than I am," he said. "And honestly, I don’t subscribe to either party. I rock with W. E. B. Du Bois, when he said there’s no such thing as two parties. It’s just one evil party with two different names."
When the conversation turned explicitly to Donald Trump, Cannon voiced enthusiasm for the president's second term, quipping, "Motherf--er’s cleaning house! He's doing what he said he was gonna do."
He joked, "We got the Gulf of America now! He’s like the club. He’s charging a $5 million bottle service fee to get into the country." Cannon added, "I f--k with Trump."
To his point about not outright aligning with either party, Cannon did not endorse a presidential candidate in 2024. Prior to that, when asked about the 2020 election, the rapper said that he would be putting his support behind Kanye West, who ran that year and ultimately received 70,000 votes in the 12 states in which he qualified for the ballot.
