Prince Harry's upcoming series of public appearances could reignite tensions with his brother, as they risk overshadowing Prince William's activities, a royal commentator has cautioned.
The Duke of Sussex is believed to have a minimum of three engagements scheduled this month, following King Charles' recent bombshell declaration emphasizing that his youngest son remains a "private citizen".
Harry is expected to appear at the inaugural Invictus Spirit Awards, the rollout of the Invictus education initiative INSPIRE, and the WellChild Awards.

Royal Editor Hugo Vickers now cautions that Harry's scheduled appearances risk diverting attention from William's official duties, potentially inflaming friction between the Sussexes and the royal household.
He stated: "The awful thing is that whenever they come to this country, if Prince William is doing one thing and Prince Harry is doing another, it will be interpreted as a competition-even if Prince Harry does not intend it to be."

"Therefore, it becomes a distraction. I don't quite know what they want to do, but presumably, they want to raise their profile.

"If they intend to be public figures and carry out more of these appearances, they will inevitably be in competition with the royal family-effectively setting up an alternative court. That is not a positive development."

A source close to the Sussexes said the couple were "surprised" when King Charles' letter, sent by Lord Chamberlain, was published.
