Russell Crowe had a tense exchange with fans outside a Paris hotel during the French Open. The Oscar winner warned the crowd to stop pushing as autograph seekers surrounded him. Videos from the moment quickly spread online, with fans split over whether Crowe was being rude or simply asking for basic respect and personal space.

Russell Crowe sets some rules for fans asking for autographs in Paris

Russell Crowe was seen outside his hotel while attending the French Open in Paris alongside girlfriend Britney Theriot. Fans gathered nearby hoping for photos and autographs, but the atmosphere reportedly became uncomfortable once people started moving too close toward the actor.

In videos circulating online, Crowe addressed the crowd directly and tried to restore order before signing anything. “Stay where you are, don’t fin push in on me. I’ll come to you. Give everyone space,” he told fans. He then added another warning: “As soon as somebody is a d, I’m gone. We clear?”

The interaction did not appear to calm down much afterward. According to the report, Crowe remained visibly frustrated during parts of the autograph session. Even so, many people online defended the actor after clips from the encounter spread across social media.

One user wrote, “You should look at it through his lens. Being bull rushed by people is no fun.” Another added, “Actually, that’s a reasonable request. Bro is trying to meet them halfway.” Others were less sympathetic, with one person posting that Crowe “The only reason I’d ever want an autograph for an actor is to sell it if it was worth a lot.”

The public appearance also brought renewed attention to Crowe’s recent physical transformation. The Gladiator star looked noticeably slimmer during his Paris outing. Earlier this year, Crowe revealed on The Joe Rogan Experience that he dropped nearly 50 pounds after completing work on his 2025 film Nuremberg. “I was 126 kilos when I finished Nuremberg,” Crowe said during the podcast appearance. “I’m 100.9 now.”
