A rep for Ryan Reynolds is coming to his defense after private text messages from the actor have been made public amid the legal battle between Reynolds' wife, Blake Lively, and her *It Ends With Us* director and costar Justin Baldoni.

"Yes, Ryan got involved — what husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children?" a rep for Reynolds told Puck News.

"He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so," his rep continued in a statement. "If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn’t angry enough. He passionately believes in and will stand up for the basic right to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation for his wife and others. Then, now and always."

Some of Reynolds' texts that were recently released as part of the ongoing legal proceedings include one sent in August 2024 to his WME agent, Warren Zavala, according to PEOPLE. At the time, Lively and Baldoni's movie *It Ends With Us* was released to massive success at the box office, as speculation mounted about potential drama among the director and cast.

"I'm super frustrated because this is a moment in which Blake should be celebrating. She made this unbelievable win happen," he allegedly wrote at the time, adding, "She WILLED this weekend into reality. Baldoni and these other buckets of dumb-dumb-juice should be acknowledging the speculation and gossip themselves. They should be jumping in front of it in the most full throated, unqualified way. Now."

Reynolds allegedly went on to say that Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios team had "made a big f---ing mess" and Lively "should not be subjected to some eye-roll-y narrative of the 'controlling bitch.'"

In a different unsealed text exchange from July 2024 to a WME executive, the *Deadpool* star allegedly also referred to Baldoni as a “thoroughbred, predatory fraudster” and an “inexplicably toxic mess," among other things.

"As stated all along, and reflected in our clients' motions, as well as in messages from Sony discussing Ms. Lively’s behaviors, the evidence does not support the claims as a matter of law," Bryan Freedman, an attorney for Baldoni, told EW when reached for comment about the unsealed documents. "A simple read of the newly released message exchanges makes the truth abundantly clear. We remain confident in the legal process and clearing the names of all of the Justin Baldoni parties."

In December 2024, Lively's legal battle with Baldoni began when she filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, in which she accused the *It Ends With Us* director and star of sexual harassment on set and alleging that he arranged a smear campaign against her earlier that year. She filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer, in New York federal court shortly afterwards.

Baldoni later responded with his own $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane, claiming defamation, civil extortion, invasion of privacy, and breach of contract. His countersuit was ultimately dismissed in June, after Judge Lewis J. Liman ruled that Lively's claims could not be considered defamatory.
