SpotifyBTS have announced they will not be submitting their music for the 2027 Grammy Awards, with fans rallying behind the K-pop supergroup’s decision.“We have decided not to submit to the Grammys this year. I hope that music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language. Thank you to ARMY and everyone who is always with us.”
The Instagram statement was shared by all seven members on Wednesday (29 July), just over a month after the Recording Academy introduced a new Asian Pop Music Performance category for the 2027 ceremony.
The decision has sparked debate among fans, with BTS becoming the first major act to publicly opt out of 2027 Grammy consideration.

While accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 2024 Grammys, Jay-Z used his speech to highlight Beyoncé’s long-running Album of the Year snub, pointing out that she remains one of the most decorated artists in Grammy history despite never winning the ceremony’s top prize.

“She has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year. So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work," he shared.

When all nominees for Best R&B Album at the 2021 Grammys were men, Teyana Taylor criticised the category’s lack of female representation, tweeting: “Y’all was better off just saying best MALE R&B ALBUM cause all I see is dick in this category.”
